From my years of teaching high school in Oakland (McClymonds and Castlemont H.S.) I realized the experience a student had in high school (the combination of teachers, faculty, facilities, programs, and peers) would greatly influence their productivity within their community.

In short, if they experienced success in high school, the community would reap the benefits. If they experienced failure in high school, the community would also suffer from their ills.

In communities termed underserved or low-income, I would argue the high school has even greater influence on the lives of its students because of the lack of role models (or adults in the lives of our young boys and girls) .

The mission of McClymondshigh.org is to make every students high school experience a successful one.
